Call For Artists
Artists,
FalseFront, an alternative art space located in NE Portland, announces the call for proposals of solo exhibitions for this year of 2010, starting in March.
Owned and operated by artists, FalseFront is interested in providing solo show opportunities to other local artists. Since its purchase, this 1930's neighborhood grocery has undergone significant modifications to exhibit contemporary art. The main storefront serves as the gallery, while the back is both office and live space. Located in a predominantly residential backdrop, the gallery functions as a forum for artist and viewer. The space's intended use is to benefit emerging or underexposed artists in a way commercial galleries may not, as artwork is not required to be salable. Each artist is granted one solo show, not gallery representation, as FalseFront's primary focus is the introduction of original, current art, not profit. Artists are expected to use this opportunity to foster the greater art dialogue in Portland, as those exhibiting are encouraged to discuss their work and be open for commentary during open/closing receptions. All conceptually and innovative visual art, performance and audio work is considered.
To be considered please send the below submission requirements to FalseFront via email or mail to:
